FilmFreeway and my elected experience
Through my two years of studying CSM Character Animation courses, apart from finding a job and preparing for the PhD, I still have the opportunity to submit my two years of work to the animation film festival. Once I had the chance, I would have been selected and possibly won an award. So to cherish all the hard work I have put in these two years, after graduating, I decided to submit my final project and the animation I made last semester to many animation festivals.
So far, the animation I have completed ‘Ward’, has already been submitted to many animation festivals.
The best animation film festival website, which is called “FilmFreeway”, and I will look up it every four times a month.
When it comes to choosing the appropriate festivals. Initially, I need to filter for festivals that don’t meet my requirements, such as some that don’t accept the short film, or animated film work on other themes from the United Kingdom, or even just free ones, and so on. Some festivals have a close deadline, so I need to hurry up and submit. Once you have filled in the specific information you can make your submission, add it to the shopping cart to purchase it for sure and then wait for the results. Until the beginning of May, I currently have three film festival events shortlisted for my animation Ward, the CEFALU Film Festival in Italy, the Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival in the UK and the Student World Impact Film Festival (SWIFF) in the US. This will give me the opportunity to present my film, briefly introduce myself and express my ideas, all of which are valuable experiences that I will definitely cherish, and I can show my animation on he global website. Because I finally had the chance to experience the atmosphere of a film festival, and I also had the opportunity to meet some of the biggest names in film and animation, to hear more of their ideas and learn from their creative minds.
The CEFALU Film Festival, the next thing I need to do is to prepare a presentation and organize the content about the animation film, I need to write my background and my work in the corresponding language, and then I need to be able to recite the content, for example the English version of my animated film Ward, which needs to be translated into Italian to prepare for the event later.
The Lift-off Sessions, I took part in this activity and submit my animation again. They sent me a link and the online activity would be took place from 10am May 15th to 29th May, we could watch different kinds of animation online and we would vote different kinds of films.
The Student World Impact Film Festival (SWIFF), also need to submit my animation again, from the most talented filmmakers all over the world, and I know that the SWIFF 2023 will take place during June 18th to June 25th, then I start to follow the @lightfilmfest! on instagram.
By the way, the film festival will give us some brands, which I can put it on my advertisement. In any case, as soon as more opportunities arise, I will consider the content of my work and submit it to various film festivals to make the most of it and express myself.
