My favorite job role
3D animation is popular in real life, However, in the world of 3D animation, there is little proportion that was successful. Behind successful 3D animation, there are powerful 3D animation companies. 3D animation companies have many different positions, and they play different roles. For example, 3D modellers, 3D special effects designers and so on. As far as I am concerned, my favourite position is 3D animator, because the animator can flexibly control the bound characters through the special controller in the 3D software, the dynamic effect of the animation will be more dynamic and can more effectively attract the attention of the audience. At the same time, I am more inclined to control each action and time of the characters, such as how long to buffer, and how long to move normally, so I am very interested in this job role.
The work of 3D animators is mainly to bind the model after modelling, and then control the action of the model in each frame through the real performance of the characters and the content in the storyboard, to make the motion of the model coherent and become animation. When making these animations, 3D animators should always play and check the videos to ensure that the twelve basic principles of animation are correct, so that the animation will not look very awkward, and the action looks exaggerated and funny, which will meet the requirements of the director.

Combined with such a position, I will make myself sit in front of the computer energetically every day, waiting for the director to assign us tasks. In particular, after the modeller and the binder smoothly hand me the model, I will observe the appearance of the model and the controller to understand how they can move. According to the content of the work of the storyboard splitter, I will imitate and then make the action. At the same time, I will submit my daily tasks to the director with quality and quantity guaranteed, waiting for the director’s feedback.
Sometimes 3D animators also need to assume their due team responsibilities, because 3D animators may face many problems when making animation, such as the action pose is not vivid enough, the animation motion is not coherent enough, the lens motion does not show the effect of the film, and so on. These problems are common phenomena in work. Therefore, animators need to have problem-solving and communication skills, and constantly explore and find a breakthrough. In addition, I can understand the requirements of the director and improve the quality of my work.

The important skill of a 3D animator is to be able to adjust the trajectory of the curve editor and the controller. The curve editor can adjust the speed of the controller, control the rhythm of the character’s performance, and when to speed up and slow down; the Controller motion track can view the motion track of the controller to make it conform to the normal motion track. For example, I can adjust the motion track to curve motion as much as possible with the help of the motion tracking, so that the character can perform more smoothly and vividly.
During my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I always contacted with animation and learned a series of animation software, such as Tvpaint, Animate, 3dsmax, Maya, and so on. After that, I found that I am good at 3D, and the software I used most recently was Maya, which is the most commonly used animation software in 3D. I can apply my animation knowledge to the 3D space and make a series of animations, so I may be engaged in this kind of job role.
